The original scene dates to approximately \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e1848–1850\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and captures Broadway filled with horse-drawn carriages and omnibuses, pedestrians, American flags and the architecture of a rapidly growing New York City.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe print used in this creation comes from a \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ebook published in 1966\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e and has been paired with a handsome vintage wood frame and \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ewarm tan mat\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. I especially love how the rich wood tones and neutral matting bring out the softly aged colors of the street scene and give the finished piece the appearance of something collected over generations.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eRepurposing old book illustrations is one of my favorite parts of creating for Flea \u0026amp; Frame.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e Some of the older books I find are heavily damaged and can no longer reasonably be preserved as complete books, but tucked inside are often beautiful pages and illustrations still worth saving.
