This beautiful vintage wooden mortar and pestle is believed to date to the mid-20th century, possibly the 1940s–1970s, although its exact age and origin are unknown.
Crafted from a substantial hardwood, this heavy piece features a rich reddish-brown finish, beautifully turned detailing, and a distinctive pedestal base. The coordinating wooden pestle complements the traditional design.
The wood has developed wonderful character over time, with areas of natural wear revealing lighter wood beneath the darker finish. The exact wood species is unknown but may be a dense hardwood such as walnut or a tropical hardwood.
