Such a pretty little piece—and one that can easily be given a new purpose!
This vintage Japanese porcelain ashtray features a delicate blue and green botanical floral design against creamy white porcelain. The simple round form has four cigarette rests along the rim, while the understated floral motif gives it a surprisingly soft, cottage-inspired look.
The underside is simply marked “JAPAN” in red, a marking consistent with Japanese export wares. Based on the mark and style, this piece is likely from the 1920s–1930s, although an exact date or maker cannot be confirmed.
While originally intended as an ashtray, I think it would be beautiful repurposed as a trinket or jewelry dish—perfect for holding rings on a bedside table, small treasures on a dresser, or even keys and coins on an entryway table. It would also make a lovely little addition to a collection of vintage Japanese porcelain.
