A tiny pair with big nostalgia.

These charming vintage miniature bisque dolls are believed to have been made in Japan during the 1930s–1940s and reflect the sweet simplicity of early dime-store treasures. Often called “penny dolls,” these little figures earned their nickname because they were commonly sold for just a penny or two at five-and-dime stores or won as carnival prizes.

Crafted from unglazed bisque porcelain, each doll features the soft matte finish collectors love, with simple hand-painted details applied using traditional cold paint techniques. Because this paint was water-based and delicate, wear over time is common and part of their vintage character.

This pair includes:
• Boy figure holding a broom
• Girl figure accompanied by a small dog

Their tiny expressions and handmade charm make them a lovely display piece for collectors of vintage dolls, cottage decor, nursery styling, or grandmillennial collections.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Significant paint loss and flaking are present throughout, consistent with age and original cold-painted finishes. Most noticeable wear appears on the girl’s feet, the dog’s facial details, and the boy’s broom. Please review photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.

Measurements:
Approximately 3.75 inches tall each

A sweet little piece of childhood history—proof that even the smallest treasures can survive generations.
