Vintage Studio Pottery Double Gourd Vase – Moss Green & Raw Clay
Vintage Studio Pottery Double Gourd Vase – Moss Green & Raw Clay

This handmade studio pottery vase features an organic, sculptural double-gourd form and a beautifully earthy two-tone glaze. With its softly rounded “onion” silhouette and narrow, subtly fluted neck, this piece feels both grounded and artful — a perfect example of mid-century studio ceramics.
The upper portion is finished in a mottled, mossy green glaze that gently breaks and pools, creating depth and movement. Below, the raw orange-brown stoneware clay body is left unglazed, allowing the natural warmth of the material to shine through. The interaction between glaze and exposed clay — often the result of iron in the clay reacting during firing (sometimes referred to as a biscuit effect) — creates a striking contrast in both texture and tone.
Signed on the bottom, this vase reflects the individuality and craftsmanship associated with studio pottery from the 1960s–1970s era. It works beautifully in organic modern, wabi-sabi, rustic, or mid-century inspired interiors.
