A striking piece of vintage American glass, this Wheaton deep amethyst purple bottle/decanter was created in the style of early American historic flasks and decorative bottles.

The bottle features a beautifully rounded, globular body with a tall slender neck and a prominent embossed starburst/floral medallion centered on the front. The rich amethyst-purple glass is especially eye-catching when displayed where natural light can pass through it, revealing the depth and variation of the color.

Produced by Wheaton Glass of New Jersey, these vintage bottles were part of the company’s popular 20th-century reproductions inspired by antique American glassware. Pieces such as this allowed collectors to enjoy the forms and character of much earlier bottles while showcasing Wheaton’s long glassmaking heritage.

The base bears the Glassboro 1850 reference, a nod to New Jersey’s historic glassmaking tradition rather than the actual production date of the bottle.

A wonderful decorative piece for a vintage glass collection, apothecary-inspired display, bookshelf, bar cabinet, or grouped with other colored glass bottles.
