Such a sweet little vintage piece. This vintage glazed porcelain figurine features a graceful mother doe standing protectively over her small fawn, tucked safely beneath her.
The simple sculptural form is what makes this one so charming—smooth flowing lines, a glossy creamy-white glaze, elongated ears, and just a few hand-painted dark accents defining the eyes, noses and hooves. The minimalist styling gives it a wonderful mid-century European feel that works beautifully with both vintage and modern décor.
The maker is unknown. This figurine was found with a collection of other European/Eastern European porcelain pieces, several of which appeared to be Russian or Soviet-era. Similar doe-and-fawn subjects were produced by both Soviet and German porcelain manufacturers during the mid-20th century, so I am leaving the exact origin unattributed.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no noted chips or cracks. Please review all photographs, as they are considered part of the description.
Measurements: Approximately 4 3/4” tall
Styling Ideas: Beautiful tucked into a stack of vintage books, displayed beneath a glass cloche, added to a woodland-inspired vignette, or styled on a dresser or bookshelf with brass and antique pieces. Its neutral white glaze makes it an easy piece to mix into almost any collection.
